Images and permissions
Camera images and manual AI enhancement are processed on your device. We do not upload camera images to maociva or Google. Capture and Save are separate operations: only Save adds an image to your photo library. Camera access is needed for magnification; On iOS, saving may require add-only photo permission. The app does not require microphone or precise-location permission. Your saved photos remain under your control.
Advertising
Free and signed-out use may display a bottom banner from Google AdMob. The app requests non-personalized ads. Google's SDK may process IP addresses (including approximate location), device identifiers, advertising interactions, crash and performance information for advertising, measurement and operation. Non-personalized ads do not mean no data collection. Camera images are never supplied to the advertising SDK.
Android version 0.6.6 and later always requests ads with fixed child-protection settings (tagged for child-directed treatment, G-rated content) and personalization disabled, independently of the age result. Free use may show these protected ads, subject to conditions such as ad availability, even if you chose a child age range or skipped the question. The banner is hidden once the server has confirmed an ad-free plan; while account rights are unresolved, ads wait so that nothing is shown by mistake.
Android version 0.6.3 and later asks for an optional age range, stored only on the device and never sent to maociva. If you explicitly choose no communication, the app does not start ads, the consent message, account sign-in, purchases, the online app library or Store lookups. If the advertising SDK has already started and you explicitly change to no communication, unsaved camera images would be lost, so the app explains this and exits only after you confirm. Camera, magnification, light, capture, saving and on-device AI work either way. This age setting is not yet available in the iOS version.
Android version 0.6.4 and later also uses the age information that Google Play provides (Play Age Signals), only on the device and only in memory. Play Age Signals is used for age protection of account and purchase functions. While protection applies or checks remain unresolved, the app defers new sign-in and purchase requests as well as existing-session checks and purchase verification or restoration. It does not delete saved credentials, change existing subscription rights or automatically grant a paid plan. The raw age value and result are not stored or sent to maociva, and they are not passed to ad measurement or analytics. This does not mean purchase verification involves no server communication. Google Play itself runs on your device and may communicate with Google under Google's policies, so we do not claim that no communication occurs.
Where required, Google's User Messaging Platform presents consent choices. Android version 0.6.6 and later sets the under-age-of-consent flag to true for everyone, which suppresses the European consent message on Android; on iOS the message is shown when required. Showing the message, or a status reported by the SDK, is not proof that you have answered with your consent. When available, you can reopen the choices from Advertising privacy choices in the app. The app does not request Apple's tracking permission or intentionally supply an IDFA.
Optional account
The magnifier, capture, saving and manual AI are available without an account. Optional sign-in uses the shared maociva account website and may process your name, email, provider identifier, account identifier, plan, app connection and security logs. An app-specific token is stored in iOS Keychain or Android encrypted storage. Eligible account plans can remove the banner; opening the website alone does not sign the app in.
Purchases
Paid plans use App Store or Google Play billing. Signed transaction information, product and transaction identifiers, subscription status and expiration, and an account-linked purchase history are sent to maociva for verification and access management. We do not receive your payment card details. Account deletion does not cancel store subscriptions: cancel them in the store subscription settings.
Retention and choices
You can revoke device permissions in system Settings and delete saved photos yourself. Sign-out revokes the app session. Account deletion is available inside the app, with email confirmation. Account deletion is scheduled after a seven-day restoration period. After that period we delete your email address, name, password, sign-in provider links, email connections and device names, and remove IP addresses from security logs. Purchase and billing records are kept for seven years for accounting and tax obligations and are then unlinked from the account. IP addresses and browser information in security logs are deleted after 90 days. This does not erase photos in your device's photo library. Google manages advertising data under its policies.
